The ideological capture of our institutions isn’t just happening at the Supreme Court or the federal judiciary. And while it commands the most attention and most coverage from the media, it isn’t the gravest threat we face.
I am deeply troubled by the direction of our nation’s federal judiciary on religious matters. They have repeatedly prioritized the “beliefs” of institutions over individuals, inflexible doctrine over common-sense accommodation, and Christian hegemony over pluralism.
Why is the United States the only wealthy Western democracy that relies so heavily on the largesse of churches and religiously aligned charities to help people put food on the table?
